Movember 30, 2009
It's hard to believe but Movember 2009 is coming to an end. We'd like to take the opportunity to thank all those who so graciously contributed to us this year. As we stroke our moustaches for the final time and reflect on the past month we are proud to have helped make a difference for Prostate Cancer Research. Movember has really taken off as evidenced by all the great events, great contributors and increased awareness the campaign has garnered this year. Good news too considering a larger number of the public now recognize the poor choice of facial hair for what it symbolizes - and not as belonging to a possible escapee from the Don Jail.

Thanks again everyone - our prostates are grateful!

Is that you, Grandpa? Saturday was a special night as three generations crammed the couch to watch hockey, get gluttonous and trade moustache grooming tips. Too many wings and a Leaf's win had us all feeling funny - with visions of Grandpa looking much younger and more stylish than usual. Besides the hallucinations and heartburn it was a great reminder of what Movember is all about for us - see for yourself.

Yes - we realize we already did an update today but this is MOmentous news! At 1:02pm of Movember 18, 2009 – we officially eclipsed the $5,000 mark for funds raised in our three year participation of Movember. It was a very significant contribution too that put us over the top - a personal thanks to Catherine Patterson of Prostate Cancer Canada for her donation and all her support over the past three years. $5,010.57 raised for Prostate Cancer Research! When my Mo was nothing more than a wisp way back in 2007 I didn't think we'd be saying that. We are truly grateful to all those who have supported us over the years. Thank you and please keep it coming!

Our Mo's must be making us proficiently challenged because we realize how far behind we've been with a proper update. We finally had some time after brunch on Sunday to get down to business. Thanks to Mom for all the help with our 80's inspired photo shoot. And the outfits too! Yeah Mom! Although it's hard to believe, we're already halfway through Movember. We'd like to thank all those who have contributed so far in 2009. Thanks! If you haven't donated please consider doing so. Our totals are down a little this year and we'd love to hold our heads high as three time members of the Movember Platinum Club. Plus they might deny us entry into this year's Gala Parté if we don't pick up the pace.

Sunday brunch, a public restaurant, friends willing to join us at the same table? Yes, it's true! Although we were escorted to a distant corner table our Mo's were out in all their splendour. If only we knew just what a hollandaise magnet these things were!

My Mo is begining to make it's presence felt and I can start to feel the looks of distaste whenever I'm brave enough to venture out in public. Rowan's ability to grow facial hair seems far superior to mine. He was gracious enough to hold off on visually documenting this stage in order not to embarass his dad. That, or like the rest of the population - would just rather not be seen with me.

Great weather and a visit from Grandpa & Grandma made for a very MOmentous day. A trip to the Cottage Life Show inspired thoughts of summer and even showed signs of the increasing awareness of Movember. Pride Marine was diplaying Movember posters on their boats in support of Boating for the Cure. We even saw one presenter with a well seasoned stache who might have forsaken the rules of Movember in place of pride. If that Mo was seven days old than he must be forced to shave with a weed whacker. After dodging septic system salesmen and hoarding as many free samples as possible, it was time to enjoy the weather and make our way to the lake for a picnic. What would a picnic be without a ride on the swings, goose s#!t on your shoes and sandwhich crumbs collecting in your freshly budding moustache. Oh - the memories!

Rowan and I were more than happy to help out when photographer Carmen Chung asked us to participate in Moustache Mayhem - A Movember tribute. Check out our Movember 6th feature and all the great images dedicated to the awareness of Prostate Cancer - http://carmencheungphoto.blogspot.com

My 2009 Mo style is courtesy of Jenn after she penciled in this year's shape with her lip liner and I shaved in the first draft. By about Movember 26th I'll probably be asked to remove myself from society! Stay tuned and soon you'll know why.

And so it begins! We're back at it again in 2009 - sacrificing our dignity and upper lips in the name of Prostate Cancer Research. As you saw from the opening slideshow, we thought the initial shave was so nice that we did it twice. We figure we have about a week of respectability left before things start to get 'hairy'. Please check back regulary to see our progress and thanks as always for the support!
